Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this whole watch thing, you know? And I got this idea to try and make a copy of that fancy Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227J-001. Yeah, that’s the one, all shiny and gold-looking.
First, I started poking around online, trying to figure out where to even begin. I checked out this site, what was it, Catawiki? They had a bunch of auctions for fancy watches and stuff. It was cool to see, but not really what I was looking for.
Getting the Parts
I needed to find the parts to put this thing together. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you! I found a place that sold a decent-looking gold-plated case, pretty similar to the real 5227J-001, so I grabbed that. Then came the tricky part – the movement. I managed to get my hands on a good quality one, but it took some serious searching.
- Got the gold-plated case.
- Found a good movement.
Putting it Together
This was where things got interesting. I carefully assembled the case and movement, trying my best to make it look like the real deal. It was a bit of a challenge, not gonna lie. I spent hours making sure everything was lined up just right.
Checking it Out
I also looked at some other places for watches, like Urmaker Bjerke. They had a lot of nice watches in their stores in Oslo and Bergen, but they were all the real, expensive kind. I tried comparing prices on Prisjakt too, just to see how much I was saving. But comparing the fake to the original, its hard, not many things to compare.
The Final Product
After all that work, I finally had my homemade Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227J-001. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it! It looked good, and it was definitely a lot cheaper than buying the real thing. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot about watches along the way.
So, that’s my story about making a copy of that Patek Philippe watch. It was a wild ride, but I enjoyed the challenge. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday!
