Alright, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001 for a while now, and today I finally did it. I went to the official flagship store to get all the good stuff I needed.
First things first, I started by picking out the materials, you know, making sure everything was top-notch. It’s a Calatrava, so it has to be good, right? I grabbed some 18k rose gold for the case, since that’s what the original has. Feels pretty fancy, gotta say.
Then, I moved on to the dial. This one’s got a “Clous de Paris” pattern on the bezel, and I wanted to get that right. It’s like, tiny little hobnails all over. I spent a good chunk of time just looking at it, making sure I understood how it all fit together. I even took some photos to reference later.
Next up, the movement. This is where things get tricky. The 6119R-001 has a manual winding caliber 30‑255 PS, which is a mouthful. I know some stuff about watches, but this was a whole other level. I started by studying the movement, all the tiny gears and springs. It’s pretty amazing how it all works, but I wasn’t feeling confident that I could do it all on my own. I asked the people in the store for help, and they were super helpful and gave me some tips.

Finally, after a few weeks, I finished it! It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty darn close. It keeps time, it looks great, and I made it myself. I put it on my wrist and felt a real sense of accomplishment.
