JLC Reverso: Old vs. New
This newfangled Reverso, it ain’t like the old ones. Not exactly, anyway. They say it’s “functionally similar,” which I reckon means it tells time just the same. But it looks different. This Tribute one, it looks more like the Reversos they make nowadays. The old ones, they had a different look. I don’t know, just different. Maybe like how my old shoes are different from the new ones I got at the store. They both shoes, but they ain’t the same.
They got this one Reverso, the Grande Complication Triptyque. It’s worth about $100,000, if you believe it. That’s more than my whole house! What I could do with that kind of money… I’d buy a whole new herd of cows. Or fix up that leaky roof. Or maybe just buy a lifetime supply of yarn. A woman can never have too much yarn, you know.
This JLC Reverso Tribute Chronograph, Is It Worth It?
This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph, it’s a nice watch. I reckon it is. But is it worth all that money? I don’t know. If you got money to burn, maybe. But me? I’d rather spend my money on something practical. Like a good pair of boots. Or a new rocking chair for the porch. Or maybe just a big ol’ bag of candy. A woman needs her sweets, you know.
But this watch, it’s like a little piece of history, I guess. All that flipping and turning, it’s kinda neat. And it’s shiny. I do like shiny things. Not too flashy, mind you. Just a little bit of sparkle. Like a star on a clear night. Or a dewdrop on a spiderweb in the morning.
This Reverso Tribute Chronograph Classic Style, it’s like that. A little bit of sparkle in a plain world. And maybe that’s worth something. I don’t know. Maybe it is. I reckon only you can decide that for yourself. For me the simple steel model is good enough, starting around $2, if you can find one. It is much cheaper, you know.
But one thing’s for sure, this watch, it’s got people talking. And that’s something, ain’t it? Just like my old hens, always clucking about something. This watch, it’s the talk of the town. Or at least, the talk of the folks who know about these things. And that’s gotta count for something, right?
