Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001 Remake: Visit the Official Flagship Store.

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with something pretty wild lately. I got this idea to try and remake the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, right? But hear me out. I saw this watch at the official Patek Philippe flagship store, and man, it was love at first sight. That thing is a beauty, but the price tag? Let’s just say it’s way out of my league.

So, I started thinking, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, I’m not a watchmaker or anything, but I’m pretty handy, and I’ve always been fascinated by how these intricate things work. Plus, I figured it would be a fun project to document and share with you all.

First things first, I needed to do some research. I spent hours looking at pictures of the 6119G-001, studying every little detail. I even visited the flagship store again a couple of times, just to stare at the real thing and take some mental notes. The salesperson probably thought I was nuts, but hey, it’s all part of the process, right?

Then came the hard part – finding the parts. I searched high and low, online and offline, for components that looked similar to the ones used in the 6119G-001. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I ended up ordering stuff from all over the place, and some of it wasn’t even designed for watches! But I was determined to make it work.

Once I had all the parts, I started putting them together. This was the most challenging and frustrating part of the whole project. There were times when I wanted to throw everything out the window, seriously. But I kept at it, and slowly but surely, the watch started to take shape.

  • Step 1: Gathered all my tools – tiny screwdrivers, tweezers, a magnifying glass, the whole nine yards.
  • Step 2: Laid out all the parts and tried to figure out how they fit together. It was like a jigsaw puzzle, but way more complicated.
  • Step 3: Started with the movement, which is the heart of the watch. This was the trickiest part, by far.
  • Step 4: Attached the dial and hands, which was a bit easier, thankfully.
  • Step 5: Put the whole thing in a case that I found online. It wasn’t an exact match for the 6119G-001’s case, but it was close enough.
  • Step 6: Added a strap, and voila! My homemade Calatrava was born.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, it’s not a perfect replica. It doesn’t have the same level of craftsmanship as the original, and it’s definitely not worth anywhere near as much. But you know what? I’m pretty damn proud of it. I made it with my own two hands, and that’s something special.

This whole experience has taught me a lot about watches, and about myself. It’s shown me that with enough patience and determination, you can achieve pretty much anything you set your mind to. Even if it’s something as crazy as trying to remake a Patek Philippe watch.

If you’re thinking about trying something like this, my advice is to go for it! Just be prepared for a lot of challenges along the way. And remember, it’s not about the end result, it’s about the journey. Trust me, you’ll learn a ton, and you’ll have a blast doing it. At least, I hope you will. As for me, I think I need a break from tiny watch parts for a while. Maybe I’ll try to build a car next. Just kidding… or am I?
