Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a PRADA Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag for a while now. It’s just such a classic, you know? But, man, that price tag! So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself? It couldn’t be that hard, right?

First, I spent hours, and I mean hours, just looking at pictures of the real thing. I zoomed in on every detail, checked out videos, even tried to find some behind-the-scenes stuff on how they’re made. I wanted to know exactly what kind of leather, what type of stitching, and everything about that metal triangle logo.

Then came the fun part: gathering the materials. I found some leather that looked and felt pretty close to Saffiano – that cross-hatch texture is key. I managed to find the hardware in some craft store. It wasn’t the exact same, but it was close enough.

  • Cutting the leather was the most nerve-wracking part. I made a rough pattern based on the dimensions I could find online, but it was definitely a lot of trial and error. I measured and re-measured a hundred times.
  • Sewing it all together was… an experience. Let’s just say I’m not a professional seamstress. But after a few failed attempts, I started to get the hang of it. That saddle stitch they use on the real one? Yeah, I tried to copy that as best as I could. My hands were cramping by the end!
  • The PRADA logo was tricky. I found a similar metal triangle that I had to carefully adjust. Fitted it into the leather and it looked fine.

Honestly, the whole process took way longer than I expected. I spent most of my weekends on it for a few weeks. There were times when I almost gave up. There were a few “happy little accidents” along the way, as Bob Ross would say.

But you know what? In the end, I ended up with something that actually resembles a PRADA Galleria Mini-Bag! It’s definitely not perfect, and I wouldn’t try to pass it off as the real deal. But I made it with my own two hands, and it’s a pretty good replica, all things considered. I learned a lot during this whole thing, that’s for sure! And you know what they say, practice makes perfect, maybe I should make a second one.

And I saved a lot of money!
