Hey y’all, gather ’round and let me tell you about my latest project. So, I got this idea in my head to try and remake that fancy Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Yeah, the one they call a “classic.” I’ve seen a lot of bags in my time, but this one, it’s got a certain something, you know?
First off, I started by looking up pictures of this June Box Bag online. I found out they make ’em in all sorts of materials – leather, that shiny stuff, even some animal skins. I decided to go with plain black leather because it seemed like the easiest to work with, and, well, it’s just classy, ain’t it?
Next, I had to figure out the size and shape. Now, I ain’t no expert, but it looked like a simple box to me. I got some cardboard and started cutting and folding until I had a box that looked about right. It was a bit of trial and error, I gotta admit, but I eventually got there. This was going to be my template.
Then came the fun part – picking out the leather. I went down to the local fabric store and found a nice piece of black leather. It wasn’t too thick, but it felt sturdy enough. I also picked up some black thread and a zipper. I figured I could use some old metal pieces from another bag for the YSL logo part.
Cutting the leather was a bit tricky. I carefully traced my cardboard template onto the leather and cut it out with a sharp knife. I made sure to leave some extra room for sewing. And, oh boy, sewing that leather was a whole other story. My old sewing machine was huffing and puffing, but it managed to do the job. It took all day for that.
- Cut cardboard to make a box template.
- Trace and cut leather pieces using the template.
- Sew the leather pieces together to form the bag.
- Attach the zipper and the metal YSL logo.
After I sewed all the pieces together, I attached the zipper. That was probably the most fiddly part. But with a lot of patience, and maybe a little bit of cussing, I got it on there. Then, I took those metal pieces I had saved and arranged them to look like the YSL logo. It wasn’t perfect, but it was close enough.
Finally, I stood back and looked at my creation. It wasn’t exactly like the real Yves Saint Laurent JUNE BOX BAG, but it was my version of it. And you know what? I was pretty darn proud of myself. It was a bit rough around the edges, sure, but it had character. A little boxy, a little crooked. But I loved it!
The End Result
It ain’t no fancy designer bag, but it’s my very own Remake Yves Saint Laurent, and that’s something special. Now I can carry my things around in style, even if it’s just my homemade style. And who knows, maybe I’ll even start a new trend. “Homemade classic,” they’ll call it. Wouldn’t that be something?
